The deliverable addresses the difficulty of converting agricultural heritage assets into clear, structured and marketable tourism products capable of generating value for local communities. GIAHS territories hold rich landscapes, traditional food systems, ancestral knowledge and living rural cultures, yet without well-designed tourism products these values remain hard to communicate and commercialise sustainably. Heritage potential alone does not translate into visitor-ready offers or economic returns for local actors. The catalogue responds to this structural gap by presenting concrete experiences that connect visitors directly to these territories while supporting heritage preservation.
No comparable document currently aggregates sustainable tourism experiences from multiple GIAHS sites across the Mediterranean under a single coherent framework. While individual sites publish their own offers, these remain scattered and incomparable. The catalogue introduces a standardised, replicable format combining heritage interpretation, practical logistics, itineraries, seasonality, accessibility and booking contacts in one navigable tool. This gives it communication value for visitors and methodological value for territories seeking to develop similar heritage-based products, going well beyond what fragmented, site-level publications can offer.
The catalogue has strong transferability potential because its standardised experience-sheet structure can be adopted by any GIAHS or rural heritage territory seeking to package and communicate tourism experiences professionally and comparably. The classification system and consistent format require no structural adaptation for new partners. Successful implementation depends on the availability of local heritage assets, the mobilisation of producers, guides, operators, and institutions capable of designing quality visitor offers, and effective stakeholder coordination. Maintaining authenticity, sustainability, and accuracy of information over time is essential to preserve its impact.
