Launch of the Learning Program #05 - Fostering and Managing Blue Growth Potential in the Mediterranean

Launch of the Learning Program #05 - Fostering and Managing Blue Growth Potential in the Mediterranean

Our seas offer a huge resource of wealth that shall be exploited, contributing to the vision for a sustainable growth in the Mediterranean basin. Today, more than ever, Blue Economy is the main tool for the Mediterranean countries to strengthen their innovative sustainable economies, promoting the European Green Deal priorities and, at the same time, protecting and valorising the marine environment.

Learning Program #05 gives an overview of the pillars of Blue Economy, focusing in the Mediterranean area. By addressing the latest trends in the different blue thematic areas, it offers fundamental theoretical curricula, illustrated with the experience and results reached within the Interreg MED Communities.

Some of the key points addressed through the different modules are:

  • ’harness’ the marine renewable energy potential,
  • ‘sustainable’ maritime and coastal tourism,
  • ‘greening’ the ports,
  • fisheries and aquaculture ‘challenges’,
  • blue bioeconomy ‘potential’,
  • maritime security and surveillance ‘practices’,
  • Maritime Spatial Planning ‘importance’.

The Learning Program closes with several case studies on how to reconcile blue economy and marine environmental protection.

The courses will start on May 16, 2022
