This learning programme is being developed at a critical period, marked by the transition from one programming period to the other and the adaptation of several sectors for the post-covid19 pandemic period. Therefore, it includes a reflection on the future of European Territorial Cooperation and presents several ways of improvement in the Mediterranean.
It offers a valuable and unique set of material, reflections and knowledge related to funding cooperation mechanisms and opportunities for sustainable development in the Mediterranean area.
One of the benefits of this learning programme is that it only requires a few hours of attendance and has an intermediate difficulty, with an easy and fast self-assessment process.
In addition to this, the learning programme includes valuable experience shared by policy professionals within the Interreg MED programme that cannot be offered in a theoretical curricula
The learning programme is coordinated by two European networks promoting the interest of regions, that have extended experience in territorial cooperation, implementation of cooperation projects (Interreg MED, Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, etc.) and lobbying/advocacy activities. These networks are:
This is the CPMR geographical commission covering the Mediterranean area. It gathers around 40 Member Regions from 9 different EU members States and other countries (Albania, Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Malta, Morocco, Spain and Tunisia). Its work focuses on the development of the Euro-Mediterranean dialogue and territorial cooperation, concentrating its efforts on Transport and Integrated Maritime Policy, Economic and Social Cohesion, Water and Energy. Today, it is calling for a macro-regional strategy for the Mediterranean and fostering the emergence of Mediterranean citizenship – also on migration policies – mobilising partners from the southern rims of the basin too.
NECSTouR is a network of 40 European regions advocating for stronger tourism policies in the EU. They are leading the capitalisation activities in the horizontal project for Sustainable Tourism in the Interreg MED current programme.
